“Albak Amanah” Initiative For Early Detection of Heart Diseases Patients in Egypt

Under the umbrella of the presidential initiative “100 Million Health”, and sponsored by Bayer Egypt, the Egyptian Ministry of Health launches “Your Heart is precious” initiative for the early detection of heart diseases in Egypt

“Albak Amanah” focuses on Cardiovascular Diseases of the Elderly People in Egypt

Within the framework of the efforts exerted by the Ministry of Health to improve the health system in Egypt and provide the necessary health care for the Egyptians, and within the framework of Bayer’s responsibility in providing all means of support to the Egyptian government and society, the Ministry of Health and Bayer Egypt, driven by the intention of strengthening bilateral cooperation; launched Albak Amanah campaign.

The aim of this campaign, that will be lasting for a minimum of three years, is to focus on cardiovascular diseases of the elderly patients, by raising public awareness about cardiovascular disease risk factors and the impact of cardiovascular disease on quality of life as well as ways to prevent and manage this condition.

The Launching Event Took Place in Abdeen Palace

Under the patronage of His Excellency, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population in Egypt, the launching event took place on February 6th 2023 in Abdeen Palace in Cairo, in the presence of Dr. Mohamed Hassani, Assistant Minister of Health and Population for programs and initiatives, Dr. Awad Taj El-Din- Advisor to the President of the Republic for Public Health and Prevention, Dr. Ashraf Hatem -Chairman of the Health Committee in the House of Representatives and former Minister of Health, Dr. Adel Adawi -President of the Egyptian Medical Association and former Minister of Health, Major General Dr. Bahaa Zeidan-Chairman of the Unified Procurement Authority, Dr. Ahmed Sobky -Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Health Care Authority and Assistant Minister of Health, and General Supervisor of Comprehensive Health Insurance, Dr. Naima Al-Quseir-Representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in the Arab Republic of Egypt, and Dirk Osenberg Engels — Head of commercial operations METAP , Director of sustainable development in EMEA at Bayer Consumer Health , and Dr. Mohamed Galal, Vice President and Head of Consumer Health at Bayer Middle East

The Campaign Consists of Two Parts

The first part focuses on conducting follow-up heart health screenings for those with risk factors, while the second part is focused on increasing public awareness about the risk factors related to cardiovascular diseases and the impact of these diseases on quality of life and how to prevent and manage them.

“Albak Amanah” in the Field

Bayer will arrange a full, comprehensive, and educational program to Health Care Professionals (HCPs), nurses and social workers who are involved in the program. An approximate number of 5000 candidates will be involved in conducting follow-up examinations of heart health in 401 primary health care facilities, distributed to all health departments in 21 governorates. Bayer will provide cardio examination kits, such as: Electrocardiogram (ECGs), blood pressure, blood glucose meters, COVID-19 personal protective kits.

Albak Amanah in the Media

High reach media is planned, including potential interviews on TV, and high engagement on radio programs, with cooperation of health influencers for creating contents focusing on four main pillars: public awareness, education, nutrition and physical health.

Albak Amanah is a step that clearly reflects the fruitful cooperation between Bayer and the Ministry of Health and Population to improve the health of patients, as heart disease is the leading cause of death in the world, including Egypt. This initiative comes within the framework of Bayer‘s global policy to support sustainable development in the world by allocating 100 million euros to support and improve the health conditions of more than 100 million citizens worldwide, noting that this policy coincided with its compatibility with the policy of the Egyptian state, and 2030 health vision” said Dr. Mohamed Galal, Vice President and Head of Consumer Health at Bayer Middle East.
